Cranberry Conserve

1 unpeeled orange, finely chopped

2 cups water

3 cups sugar

1 quart cranberries

½ cup seeded raisins

½ cup walnuts

 

Combine water and orange. Cook rapidly until orange peel is tender, about 20 minutes. Add cranberries, sugar and raisins. Bring slowly to a boil, stirring constantly until sugar dissolves. Cook about 8 minutes more, stirring frequently so mixture does not stick. Add nuts and cook 5 minutes more. Pour, boiling hot, into hot jars. Adjust caps. Process in boiling water bath for 10 minutes. Remove and cool. Great with all kinds of poultry dishes.
